Mindset. Whether positive or bad, thoughts and ideas that hold you back have no place in your mind. What’s more, you have no clear goals in mind. What you don’t want becomes your focus, and you get distracted.
Maintaining momentum daily is one of the most significant challenges you will face on your journey to finish writing. Here are some techniques to help you keep the momentum going throughout your sessions of creative writing.
The inner critic is a psychological term that refers to a part of your psyche that assesses or denigrates yourself and your work. The inner critic is often characterized as having a loud, booming voice. Or as assertively informing you that you are incorrect or should not have begun. It’s the voice that makes you feel tiny, inadequate, and suffocated.
As an Author and Editor, I find joy in helping other writers make their babies come to life as I was able to do myself. There are times when I am so engulfed in an editing project that I cannot work on my writing, but that doesn’t mean that another author’s success has to sting. If a writer is successful in the media environment, it is a success for everyone since books are considered the underdogs. Remember, we’re all in this together – that’s why something like #WritingCommunity exists.
The hardest part of writing a book is always the first few pages. No matter how strong your motivation or how compelling the topic, motivating yourself to start is a large task. Here is how I do it:
We often use the words author and writer interchangeably, but both these words are different. A writer writes a book, article, or any literary piece. At the same time, an author is essentially the person who originates the idea, plot, or content of the work being written. At times, the author and writer can be the same person.
Book reviews can be more important than you may think. Reviews are great for any writer. It allows feedback from people who don’t know you and those who do know you to show support, but being honest. It is the only way you can improve as a writer. They can take many forms. Book reviews can be brief or long. They can critique and/or summarize the book.
After having self-publishing Positive Thinking and Life, Randomness, & A Little Eroticism, I felt good. To hold your book in your hand is the most amazing feeling in the world. I couldn’t wait to publish more books. I knew there would be no more poetry, but I also knew I wasn’t ready to write a full-length novel. That is where Betrayed & Scorned comes into play, a compilation of shorts that all go together. This you will hear more about next week.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I have loved words since I first learned how to write in Kindergarten. Writing has been a consistent hobby turned career choice.
I am excited to be sharing my books (fiction and nonfiction) and content with you all as a helping hand in bettering your writing and providing great stories to jump headfirst into! This is me as an author for personal and career purposes.
