This book is a bit self-explanatory with the title. There is poetry and short stories that encompass this book. I had a ton of poetry left when I stopped writing it. I needed to release it because there were many good poetry pieces could help people in many different aspects of life. There is so much randomness that we experience daily, or so what seems random to us. You always hear the saying, “Everything happens for a reason, you just might not know in the moment what that reason it.”
Poem Excerpt:
Black Love
Successful young black queen
Looking for someone who can sit beside her
Encompass her standards
As her king
But don’t let her outward perfections fool you
There’s a hurt woman in there
A woman who chooses not to fall from grace again
As well as a man with insecurities
Trying to overcome the stigmas of his people
Two as one
The strength of building an empire, a union
Taking the negativity and transforming it into positivity
This love is overpowering
Her king didn’t know that one day
She would become this important to him
As he places her on that pedestal,
Of not only appreciation,
But of wonder
Can this beautiful woman be the one?
His queen sees a king in the making
A lover of sorts
Mind, body, and soul
The way our hair curls and hips sway
The sculpted figures and function of their ego
The mind blowing passion expressed together
Her king’s hands encompassing,
Every voluptuous curve of his queen
This love composed of a single soul,
Inhabiting two bodies
The intensity of two bodies becoming one
For his queen will see into his soul
As he will grant her access
She kisses him with her full lips
Touches him as no other has
Holds him with such compassion
Loves every part of him
He loves her first
Then he holds her as if to never let go
Touches her tenderly, cautiously
Cupping her face, while gently kissing those lips
They heal one another
Becoming whole once again
American Graffiti
On cloud nine
Looking so benign
That gleam in your eye
Anyone can spy
The look of contemplation
You tell a story with those eyes of flirtation
Your physique, not telling how you got it
Your lips round and plump I can admit
Posture is reflecting translation
But not quite giving invitation
Body language so sensual
But got me thinking quite ethical
And I know you got high self-esteem
Laughing at everyone else around in extreme
Your hair says it all
That’s why I remain here, yet to fall
Victim to the seduction you radiate
I choose to expatriate
This American Graffiti got me feeling some type of way
How realistic they look in this modern day
Forbidden Fruits
Adam and Eve set the bar for the unthinkable deed
Those looming fruits they so much desired to feed
They were suppose to be the example, but did not properly lead
God punished them; for the warning they did not heed
God is a funny man; a comedian if you will
He presents in front of us what we shouldn’t have, yet still,
The temptation is so irresistible, it makes us ill
Just to be faced with such an amount of thrill
It’s in our grasp, yet so far away it is painful
Making us do things we wouldn’t normally do that are sinful
Though committing such acts only remain to let it be gainful
Allowing the desired person, place, or thing attainable
It never ceases to amaze us of the outcome though
We thought we had something that was worthy of know
And we would never think to owe a fee, although
There is always a price to pay that seems to lie low
This is what we call the forbidden fruit
Making all these plans just to get the boot
Sometimes even seeing that it didn’t start at the proper root
Finally realizing that it wasn’t meant or absolute
Short Story Excerpt:
Full Disclosure
“We love it,” John said. “Is there anything we should know about this house’s past?”
The agent looked down. He wanted to make the sale, but he knew they would find out sooner or later. Then he thought about the many owners whose lives were in danger when they walked through those doors. He had been haunted for ten years now. He happened to make a deal with the deadly spirit. He was waiting on approval from the spirit before answering the buyer’s question. They were getting impatient.
“Sir is there anything we need to know?” John said, less excited this time.
“No, you’re fine. This house is the best on the market right now,” the agent was able to manage.
“Good choice, let them find out for themselves, you did well this time.”
The agent stood in the doorway as the buyers left. He couldn’t leave the house until someone new moved in. This was a win for him, but to do so he had to put others in danger. He had learned to be selfish, but it was still hard to do and he hesitated a bit.
“They’ll be back in a day or two and then you can leave my friend, for now…hahahahahaha.”
The agent looked to the side of himself knowing that he wouldn’t see the spirit, but he could feel the spirit’s presence there. It was something he would be joyful to get away from. Today was actually the anniversary of these two meeting. Wasn’t pleasant, but truly memorable.
Ten years way back when…
Life was simple for Thomas Thatcher; he was a 17-year-old genius, already on his second college year. He aced the ACT with flying colors, 36. He wanted to become a scientist dedicated to finding cures to help out the sick. So, things were handed to him and scientists were already looking to hire him on to some of their projects in progress. They felt with such a young and bright mind they would have different ideas and solutions. Or so it seemed.
Though Young Thatcher had the brain power that many desired, his common everyday knowledge just didn’t compare to his brain’s more analytical aspects. He always saw situations in the most critical, scientific, technical ways. Broken down from basic to complex. Odd, ain’t it. It’s like trying to explain emotion to a robot. While at Yale, Young Thatcher acquired an internship with Scientists Anonymous, We Serve and Protect (SAWSP). The name sounds quite convincing of good intention; doesn’t it? No one had the back story to this organization. The mission entailed, in so many words, that they find the cures that no one can.
Young Thatcher saw this opportunity and ran with it. Literally, as soon as they gave him the paper indicating that he got the internship he ran through the campus. Little did he know it’d be an opportunity of a lifetime for him. Unforgettable. As some weeks went by the scientists had him doing basic experiments with chemicals and testing how medications work with blood systems. After two months SAWSP felt he was ready to be introduced to project (DEATH) = Deadly Enhanced Amplified Testing of Hope. They got creative and over excited about the name. Old people were the subjects.
SAWSP had a list of old folks that were living with Cancer that were in its late stages. These people were hopeful and in their 60s just wishing for another day to live. They were desperate and didn’t care what was put into their bodies.
One day Young Thatcher was brought along on one of the visits to an old person’s home. It was a normal day. He thought this was the day he would make an impact, or begin to. The catch with these patients is that no one, other than SAWSP, knew what was going on with them. SAWSP had all the testing records and doctor appointments and check-ups. These patients were deadly and Young Thatcher would find out soon enough.
